With her long blonde hair and striking blue eyes, Alicia Silverstone became a well-known teen idol in the ’90s. At the age of 16, Silverstone starred in Aerosmith’s music video for “Cryin” in 1993, as well as their other videos for “Amazing” and “Crazy.”

Her most notable performance would eventually occur in 1995 when the actress starred in the hit comedy Clueless. Her portrayal as Cher Horowitz won her Best Female Performance and Most Desirable Female at the 1996 MTV Movie Awards, and her character’s iconic yellow plaid outfit still remains a major pop cultural reference today.

Darian/Adrian Forrester, “The Crush” (1993): Silverstone’s debut film role was as Darian/Adrian Forrester in the erotic thriller, “The Crush.” Starring as a teenager who has an obsession with a 28-year-old writer, she won the 1994 MTV Movie Award for Best Breakthrough Performance.
Cher Horowitz, “Clueless” (1995): Arguably her most iconic role, Silverstone stars as Cher Horowitz in the ’90s classic “Clueless.” This coming-of-age comedy film focuses on Cher and her life as a rich and popular high school student in Beverly Hills. From the influential fashion to the memorable phrase, “Ugh, as if,” “Clueless” has had a long-lasting legacy in the teen movie genre.
Jennifer, “The Babysitter” (1995): In this erotic thriller, Silverstone plays Jennifer, a teenage girl who becomes the obsession of two boys and the father of the children she is babysitting for.
Emily Hope, “Excess Baggage” (1997): In an attempt to grab the attention of her rich father, Emily Hope (Alicia Silverstone) fakes her own kidnapping. The situation escalates into something real when Hope is actually abducted by a car thief. This comedy film also stars Benicio del Toro and Christopher Walken.
Eve Rustikoff, “Blast From the Past” (1999): In this ’90s rom-com, Silverstone plays Eve Rustikoff, the leading love interest of Adam Webber (Brendan Fraser). After Webber comes out of his fallout shelter that he has been living in with his family his entire life, he is determined to get more supplies and find a wife from Pasadena, California.
The Princess, “Love’s Labour’s Lost” (2000): Based on the play by William Shakespeare, this musical rom-com is a modern version of the classic comedy that centers on King Ferdinand (Alessandro Nivola) and his pact with his three best friends to swear off love for several years.
Nat, “Rock My World” (2002): Silverstone plays the stunning and talented bass player Nat in this comedy-drama film. After their leader mysteriously disappears, American rock band Global Heresy tries to work on new music in the UK with Nat as its new band member.
Heather Jasper Howe, “Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed” (2004): In the sequel of the live-action Scooby-Doo films, Silverstone plays Heather Jasper Howe, a reporter for Investigative Probe that tries to ruin the reputation of Mystery Inc.
