Who is Maison Alaïa's New Creative Director Pieter Mulier?
Joining Maison Alaïa is Pieter Mulier’s absolute dream.
“Always ahead of his time and open to all arts and cultures, Azzedine Alaïa’s powerful vision has served as an inspiration, as he always sought to give the necessary time to innovative and enduring creation,” said Mulier in a statement. “It is with this tremendous sense of admiration and responsibility that I will seek to carry forward his legacy of celebrating femininity and placing women at the heart of creation,” he added.
The bar is high, the pressure is intense, but the talent is there.
Matthieu Blazy, his partner, is also in the fashion industry.
Matthieu Blazy, Raf Simons’ friend and Mulier’s partner, is sharing the same passion as he is also working in the fashion industry. After working for Calvin Klein, Celine, and Maison Margiela, Matthieu Blazy appears to have joined Bottega Veneta as a senior designer, assisting Daniel Lee, the Creative Director.
Will he join Mulier at Alaïa? Only time will tell.
Iconic designers are welcoming Mulier to his new position.
Matthew Williams, Naomi Campbell, Marc Jacobs, Kim Jones, among others congratulated the new Creative Director on Instagram and were looking forward to seeing his latest collection.
“Pieter stands out with remarkable technical talent and devotion to the craft, a sharp eye for construction and a sense of timeless beauty that is deeply ingrained in the creative approach of our Maison. He combines these qualities with a keen intellect, true generosity and unwavering humanity, which fills me with the greatest confidence in his creative leadership and innovative powers,” said Myriam Serrano in a press release, CEO of the Maison, before adding, “His appointment marks the opening of an important new chapter for our Maison as we jointly seek to carry the foundational values and distinctive style of Alaïa into the future.”
We’ll be there to admire his creations. Mulier make his debut with the House for the Spring/Summer 2022 season.
