Fashion House Schiaparelli Donates Regina King's Emmys Dress to Charity Auction
Historic French fashion maison Schiaparelli has donated two outfits worn by actress Regina King, including her most recent red carpet dress, to Christie’s for a charity auction. The online event will benefit the Obama Foundation’s Girls Opportunity Alliance, an initiative that seeks to educate young women around the world.
The Watchmen star wore the first look, a blue Spring/Summer 2020 Haute Couture gown with jeweled accents, to the virtual red carpet at the 2020 Emmy Awards just last month. The hand-made dress took 270 hours to create. She sported the second ensemble, a wool jacket and matching pair of trousers in the brand’s signature shocking pink, paired with a Breonna Taylor T-shirt, during an interview prior to the awards show.
“Ms. King is an icon, both of her craft and of this moment,” said Schiaparelli Creative Director Daniel Roseberry. “We at Maison Schiaparelli join the Obama Foundation in celebrating the inherent power of women and are committed to inspiring and supporting adolescent girls through the empowering nature of fashion.”
The bidding for both ensembles begins tomorrow and ends October 30. Both looks are available for viewing by appointment at Christie’s Los Angeles in Beverly Hills.
