Who is Maya Wigram? Meet Phoebe Philo’s Daughter and Runway Model

It’s been an exciting past few months for Phoebe Philo’s family. Not only did the acclaimed British designer finally launch her namesake label after exiting Celine in 2017, but now, Phoebe Philo’s daughter, Maya Wigram, is stepping into the limelight. And it seems she’s following her mother’s footsteps—with just one tiny caveat. Wigram, 18, while destined for a career in fashion, doesn’t seem to be on the designing path, at least for now. Instead, she’s proudly walking the runways for one of fashion's heavyweights. 

If you’ve been wondering who the face behind the mysterious closing look at Burberry’s latest show was, look no further. It was actually Maya Wigram, donning a black funnel-necked leather jacket paired with a floor-length tartan kilt. Walking the Burberry runway during London Fashion Week alongside former regulars like Lily Cole is already a notable achievement in and of itself—most especially for an 18-year-old model. But, the show was particularly special as it marked Maya Wigram’s debut. Of course, it also pays that creative director Daniel Lee has a close friendship with Philo, having worked under her as Celine’s director of womenswear from 2008 to 2017. By the end of the show, her father, Max Wigram, quickly took to Instagram to proudly share his daughter’s modeling debut. 

So, what is Maya Wigram up to? Despite her parents’ fame, there aren’t many details about the industry's fresh face. However, we do know that Wigram was born in 2005, the year before Philo stepped down as the creative director of Chloé. So, with her mother heavily steeped in the fashion world, it’s unsurprising that her first Fashion Week attendance was when she was just a baby, attending the Chloé Spring/Summer 2006 show backstage with her parents. That said, it’s safe to assume that Maya Wigram’s early exposure to fashion likely fueled her interest in becoming a model.
