Louis Vuitton X Yayoi Kusama Fuses Fashion With Art in New Global Collaboration
In celebration of the 10-year anniversary of Louis Vuitton and Yayoi Kusama's first collaboration, the Maison and esteemed artist have partnered once again for their latest collection.
Ten years after the first global collaboration between Louis Vuitton and Yayoi Kusama, the Maison and revered artist have come together once again to present their latest collection. The collaboration was first teased during the Louis Vuitton Cruise 2023 show and was officially announced by the brand shortly afterward.
As one of the most well-respected avant-garde artists of our time, Kusama creates worlds most of us can only dream of through a mere stroke of her paintbrush. The artist first worked with the Maison in 2012, where the two creative forces created their first global collaboration is remembered with nothing but fondness and success to this day. Though Louis Vuitton and Kusama may appear as if they are on two opposite ends of the aesthetic spectrum, the merge of the unique visions between the esteemed brand and the artist is how the original collaboration became such a beloved collection among fashion enthusiasts and shoppers alike.
In 2012, the initial collaborative collection included Kusama's signature polka dots carefully yet effortlessly placed among various Louis Vuitton bags including the Keepall, Speedy, Neverfull, and Papillion. A decade later and the collaboration has grown from handbags to all product categories for both men and women.
Staying true to the strengths and authenticity of one another, the collaboration upholds Louis Vuitton's key silhouettes and eye for craftsmanship whilst embodying Kusama's distinct themes and motifs. Translated from the hand of Kusama are motifs such as painted dots, infinity dots, metallic dots, psychedelic flowers, faces, and pumpkins. Through it all, the collaboration exudes Kusama's joyous and playful creative spirit while maintaining Louis Vuitton's savoir-faire.
The Louis Vuitton x Yayoi Kusama collaborative collection is set to release through two drops with the first happening on January 6, 2023 and the second on March 31, 2023.
