Whisk Yourself Off to a Whimsical World with Loewe’s Holiday Collection
The joyful collection draws inspiration from the brains behind the Japanese ceramic studio Suna Fujita.
This festive season, Loewe is introducing yet another fun collaboration. After previous successful collaborations with Studio Ghibli’s Howl’s Moving Castle and Swiss sneaker brand On, the luxury brand is ending its year off with a collection that parallels spirited characters from Suna Fujita, a Kyoto-based ceramic studio.
Suna Fujita, founded by Shohei Fujita and Chisato Yamano, is a studio based in Japan that draws from the well of inspiration found in natural landscapes for its dreamy ceramics. In a short documentary film, the studio’s founders discuss how animals and naturalistic scenery form the basis of their work, along with their own childhood memories and their life with their son and pet dog. These sources of inspiration fuse together and allow their ceramics to come to life, telling little miniature tales on teapots, cups, and plates. They also discuss how their ceramic works endeavor to provide a utopia to its owners, amidst the chaos in the real world.
Loewe’s Holidays Collection taps into this energetic source of life and imagination for its accessories and more. A young boy, panda, otter, and lemur from Suna Fujita’s world are among the cast of this joyful Loewe collection that adopts a vibrant color palette. Sunshine yellow and cloud blue sits alongside deep forest green and woody brown. In addition to the Loewe classic Hammock and Puzzle bags, small leather goods like cardholders are also spruced up with the animated characters from Suna Fujita.
For the Holidays Collection, exaggerated silhouettes for both men and women are underscored, through dramatic dimensional pieces and elongated volume. Argyle knits get dressed in bold color combinations, and the Toy pump and Screen sunglasses come adorned with tiny constellations for a dazzling festive mood.
While doing some year-end shopping, why not do some good too? For every Loewe x Suna Fujita purchase, Loewe will donate part of the proceeds to the Save the Children’s Education in Emergencies program. This program serves to guarantee safe and protective learning environments for children in humanitarian crisis situations around the world.
The Holidays collection launches in stores and on loewe.com on November 16.
