Law Roach has established itself in recent years as one of the most respected professionals in the field and the name behind the best looks on red carpets in the four corners of the world. However, on March 14, 2023, the veteran Hollywood tastemaker announced his retirement, saying, "My Cup is empty."
"Thank you to everyone who’ve supported me and my career over the years," Roach continued. "Every person that trusted me with their image, I’m so grateful for you all."
The stylist then left followers with a more ominous message alluding to it being drama behind the scenes that prompted this decision. "If this business was just about the clothes I would do it for the rest of my life but unfortunately it’s not! The politics, the lies and false narratives finally got me! You win … I’m out."
While many fans of his work are stunned by this decision and left wondering what this means for the future of red carpets, Roach's legacy will certainly live on.
He worked practically like a creative director with his celebrity clientele, taking care of not just their image, but the editorials of the events his clients are invited to, which is not very common in his profession.
Zendaya's career took off after Roach helped her pick a look for a specific award after a referral from a friend. At the time, the star was still working for Disney Channel and did not have access to the main brands and stylists. However, her relationship with Roach was so successful that the two have continued working together as Zendaya continues to succeed in her adult acting career.
Just two years ago, Roach's main clients received two important CFDA awards. Zendaya, at 25, was the youngest personality to win the Fashion Icon award. Other names that have already received the honor are Beyoncé, Prince, Lady Gaga, Naomi Campbell, and Rihanna.
Taylor-Joy, who was also then-25, quickly became one of the most sought-after actresses following her lead performance in The Queen's Gambit, which shot her career to stardom. Always on board with creative and daring looks, the actress received the CFDA Face of the Year award.
