Kim Kardashian has been experimental with her fashion choices, but this may be one of her most controversial yet.
Love or hate her sense of style, Kim Kardashian is the queen of fashion experimentation. The Skims founder has always made headlines for trying out different styles — in which sometimes it works and other times, not so much. And right now, it may be the latter.
On Tuesday, Pharrell Williams had his Louis Vuitton debut at the Men's Spring/Summer 2024 fashion show. It would be an understatement to say the collection was a major success, with plenty of standout looks and reinterpretations of signature Louis Vuitton codes. More than that, the show had major celebrity power — significantly more than usual — such as Rihanna, Asap Rocky, Zendaya, Jay-Z, Beyoncé, Lenny Kravitz, Lebron James, Lewis Hamilton, Anitta, Megan Thee Stallion, Jaden Smith, Willow Smith, and Naomi Campbell.
Among the bunch was none other than Kardashian herself, and while she may be a shining star, her outfit has been nothing but controversial among fans.
The socialite sported a bra top, leggings, and furry fanny bag, all crafted in a pixelated camo print — a print that dominated the collection and will likely have numerous appearances in the coming year. As soon as she showed up, the internet was instantly divided as some called her chic, while others equaled her look to that of a Minecraft character.
"Okay it's giving Minecraft," one user commented on Twitter, while another posted, “Why does it look like a Minecraft character, help."
Other comments included, “Okay the outfit tho.. pls get another stylist Kim :(" and "That cheap spandex she looks a mess."
Following her divorce from Kanye West in 2021 — who also served as her personal stylist throughout their relationship — Kardashian has been very honest about finding her footing in the fashion world. In Season 1 of The Kardashians, she admitted to sometimes having panic attacks due to the stress of not knowing what to wear without West's approval.
It goes without saying that she has come a long way from that point in her life, making a mark in fashion due to nothing but her own volition.
When speaking about making styling decisions on her own for a collection she was working on in The Kardashians, she said, "This is just about me, and to prove to myself that I can do something like this on my own without my whole team. The last couple of days have really taught me this independence and to trust my gut. I was so insecure that I couldn’t do anything without my security blanket, and now I can — and on a really big level."
