Katy Perry Channels Y2K Style, Bianca Censori With Risqué Balenciaga Look

In yet another fabulous Balenciaga look, Katy Perry turned heads as she walked into the luxury label's Fall/Winter 2024 Haute Couture show on June 26, 2024. The show was a star-studded affair to be sure, with fellow celebrities like Nicole Kidman, Naomi Watts, and Maya Rudolph—all of whom were joined by their daughters, outfitted head-to-toe in ultra-cool styles just like their mothers—but no celebrity mother-daughter pair shocked fans waiting outside of the venue more than Perry, who braved the stifling Parisian heat in a risqué look.

Sans shirt, she donned a luxurious, sweeping black fur coat, ripped black tights, and Balenciaga's signature Pantashoe heels. Finishing off the look, the star wore her hair in a sleek, shiny braided ponytail and appeared cool, calm, and collected as ever in oversized black sunglasses. While the singer has undeniably put her own twist on the naked dressing trend, fans couldn't help but draw comparisons between her latest look and several of Bianca Censori's similar shirtless moments. Although there are certainly contemporary paralells to be drawn, any Y2K fashion afficianado worth their salt would also acknowledge that the look undeniably serves an air straight out of a mid-2000s Christina Aguilera music video, straight down to the bare, dewy skin and slicked back ponytail. 

Just a few days back, the singer made another style statement with a fiery red mini-dress, also by Balenciaga. The dress, which featured a lengthy, flowing train, was embroidered with miniature text, which Perry later revealed to be lyrics from her upcoming unreleased single. 

Over the years, Perry has fashioned a reputation as a celebrity with a unique eye for bold styles, but this latest string of looks stresses a fresh new chapter, both in terms of her fashion choices and her music. With an album on the way, it seems Katy Perry is stepping into a new era as an empowered, unapologetically confident style star.
