Jennifer Lawrence Gives Elegance An Attitude With Longines

Elegance with attitude—the slogan behind Longines' DolceVita watch collection is the ultimate descriptor of actress Jennifer Lawrence. While she's always been known for her quirkiness and easy humor, but recently she's also found herself as one of the key examples in the "quiet luxury" conversation. Which makes her the perfect fit as the face of the new Longines Mini DolceVita—a watch that streamlines elegance in a chic, subdued silhouette but still packs a punch of attitude with its various colors (including a stunning candy apple red).

Celebrating the campaign's debut, Lawrence spoke to editors about her shift into the luxury space, her own connection to watches, and how she defines "elegance with attitude."

What made you take on the role of ambassador for Longines?

Jennifer Lawrence: I think that the company is so rich in history and creativity, and I love their classic timepieces. 

How do you choose which brands to work with and what makes Longines such a great fit for you? 

JL: I love a brand that’s conceptual and creative, and you obviously have to like what they make and how they work. It’s been really effortless, the partnership with Longines, and I love their watches. 

You’re a perfect Longines ambassador, what does elegance with attitude mean to you?

JL: I think elegance always looks better when it’s a little bit effortless, like a quiet luxury. And of course, being on time. 

What does time mean to you?

JL: Time is so precious, especially after you have a child, I feel like I just appreciate every moment now. Being on time has always been important to me because I feel like nobody expects me to be on time, so it’s always important to me to be prompt and organized. 

Were watches a part of your life growing up or was it something that developed over time? 

JL: It developed over time, my brother-in-law, when my husband and I got married, gave me a watch that their father gave him when he was younger. it was such a sentimental, amazing gesture, so ever since then, my love for watches grew. 

My question is what does elegance mean to you?

JL: I think it’s about attitude and being confident. Confidence is elegant, and not trying too hard. A classic chic look is elegant. 

What does it mean to you to be a Longines ambassador?

JL: This company is so historical and has such an amazing, rich history and it’s really, really fun to be a part of it. I think the Mini Dolce Vita is a perfect watch for day and night wear. 

I wanted to ask you about heirloom pieces. Besides the piece you mentioned, is there a particular watch or piece of jewelry that’s been passed down that has sentimental value?

JL: In my family, we weren’t huge heirloom keepers, but I married into a big sentimental family, so I have a necklace with two die, like dice, in it because my husband and I play backgammon, and that’s obviously very sentimental.
