Jean Paul Gaultier Prepares to Return to Fashion

The brand stopped producing its ready-to-wear line six years ago.

In 2020, Jean Paul Gaultier said goodbye to fashion when presenting his last Haute Couture collection. From then on, his namesake label would invite a different designer to do a series of collaborations each season.

Last week, the brand's Instagram was invaded by an enigmatic message with the phrase "The End." Fashionistas around the world have wondered what it could mean and now we have the answer: the brand will return to the ready-to-wear market after six years on hiatus.

As published by WWD, the first collection will be officially presented on Friday, May 28, and will be sold on e-commerce and also on the digital multi-brand shop Ssense.com.

Although Gaultier himself is no longer directly responsible for the design of the clothes, he is still closely linked to the company and will be involved in choosing the designers who will participate in future collections. Here, see a preview of the new Jean Paul Gaultier era:
