Every season offers an opportunity for innovation. Edgy bracelet bags and bags with metal handles adorned the fall 2024 runways, with models letting them dangle like jewelry or holding them close to the body like a prized possession (which handbags are, of course).
At Victoria Beckham, models pinched their bags. At Fendi, models stuck their hands through the small handles and clutched their bags tight. And at Prada, handbags attached to models' wrists via a cuff and chain were a major moment both for the brand and the season.
Other fashion houses took their own spin on the trend. For instance, Chloe’s bracelet bag—a soft leather crescent bag with a gold ring top handle—communicates a boho-chic aesthetic while allowing you carry it in the crook of your elbow with its metal handle, like a bracelet. On the other hand, Dior merged its trademark Parisian sophistication with coolness: a handbag with a relaxed silhouette and metal handle adding an expensive-feeling edge. Meanwhile, Coach and Fendi designed hobo bags with gold-colored metal clips at the handle to embody the refinement and trendiness of the style. Alexander McQueen also leaned into a scultpural design with its “Cross-Bar” bag, which contains a tubular curved gold handle atop its leather base, and blends seamlessly with a bangle or two.
The emergence of these mighty bags signals a general consciousness of the recent sales-driving potential of maximalist accessories. (For example, “It-girls” like Daisy Edgar Jones and Miley Cyrus have both prompted headlines for indulging in the chunky jewelry renaissance in their recent public appearances).
This contemporary and witty approach to handbags defines the modern woman: confident, on-the-go, forward thinking. If you are searching for a beloved handbag to hold close that will accommodate your free-spirit personal style and becomes one with your other accessories including bracelets and rings, look no further for your fall 2024 wardrobe.
