"Accessories are enlarged and exaggerated, emphasizing reuse and alternative materials," explained Demna, creative director of Balenciaga, in the show notes for the label's Fall/Winter 2022 collection, before continuing to comment "The Trash Pouch is inspired by a garbage bag."&nbsp;
Critics online wondered if the bag was a joke, a social experiment, or a last-minute addition to the collection. In 2017, Balenciaga shocked the world with the release of its imitation Ikea tote bag.
