Straight after her introduction as L'OFFICIEL's Art Spring 2023 cover star, Doja Cat makes her Met Gala debut on the 2023 Met Gala red carpet. The singer makes her first Met Gala appearance—one for the fashion history books—as she steps out in Oscar de la Renta and facial prosthetics as an actual cat.

As attention-grabbing as this outfit is, it should come as no surprise that Doja takes center stage. The singer has always been extremely experimental with her fashion choices — even moreso this year than her already daring looks from the past. The artist established herself among fashion superstardom after sitting front row at the Schiaparelli Spring/Summer 2023 Haute Couture show covered head to toe in red Swarovski crystals. The process took hours to complete, but she referenced the moment as creating art.

"It was art," Doja told L'OFFICIEL. "That's what me and Pat [McGrath] did together. We did a painting, we did a piece of art, we did a sculpture."

Her imaginative fashion choices do not come without criticism, however, for Doja, she doesn't mind clapping back at the haters. Case in point: in response to those who negatively commented on her crystal-covered look, stating the outfit could use something such as a lash, Doja attended the Viktor & Rolf Spring/Summer 2023 Haute Couture show with faux lashes everywhere except where lashes traditionally are.

"It's just funny when people think that their take matters because it's a personal thing. So I wanted to respond in the biggest f*ck you that I could, and that was putting lashes everywhere but the place they wanted me to put them," Doja said to L'OFFICIEL.

Her witty take on fashion translates to this Met Gala animalistic look. Her unpredictableness makes Doja always leave fans in anticipation of what she will wear next, especially at major events such as the Met Gala — where there's no such thing as going too big or wild. In her Oscar De La Renta outfit and cat-inspired prosthetics, Doja doesn't disappoint with her debut Met Gala red carpet appearance, leaving us excited to see what is next to come.
