Bottega Veneta: The Enchanted World of Matthieu Blazy for Spring/Summer 2025
Creative director Matthieu Blazy brought a playful Spring/Summer 2025 collection to the catwalk, inspired by the adventure of everyday life.
The most fitting word to describe this collection is "tender," as it imagines a world organized not by adults but by children. From the seating—Zanotta’s Sacco armchairs reimagined as playful animals like rabbits, chickens, pandas, ladybugs, and snakes—to the accessories and garments, every element evokes a sense of youthful creativity. Woven leather flowers appear on the bags (“the new ‘bricolage’ bags are still in transformation,” says Blazy, as are the characters who carry them), while the T-shirts and shirts are crumpled, disrupting conventional refinement. “The child plays at being an adult,” explains Matthieu Blazy of the Bottega Veneta Spring/Summer 2025 collection.
“As children, everyday life feels like an adventure,” continues the creative director. “There’s a sense that anything is possible, no matter how fantastical, and we aren’t bound by expectations or conventions. The door is open to unusual realities and moments of wonder, where disappointment doesn’t exist. It’s the power of sincerity over strategy.”
Bottega Veneta’s signature material, leather, is transformed, taking on new shapes like a sequined evening gown. Traditional materials are also reimagined, as tropical-weight merino wool is woven in jacquard to resemble stonewashed denim. It’s a whimsical playground you never want to leave.
