Following the launch of Bottega Veneta's new creative universe app, Matthieu Blazy presented his first collection as the brand's new creative director for Fall/Winter 2022. Blazy's debut was undoubtedly the most anticipated event of Milan Fashion Week, and he certainly did not disappoint.

The designer found himself inspired by futuristic art. "Bottega Veneta is essentially pragmatic because it is a leather goods company. Since it specializes in bags, it's about movement, about going somewhere; there is basically an idea of craftsmanship in movement. It is more style than fashion in its timelessness. This is part of its silent power," he said. He then went on to say that, “with the team we were able to achieve our goals, return to Italy and carry the movement on clothes. It all started with Boccioni's work and Futurism which allowed us to develop the concept of movement. Tailoring, on the other hand, is a key element in Italy where tailoring is streetwear because people take it to the streets."

Blazy's debut collection is a unique coming together of glamour and utilitarian aesthetics. At the center of the collection is the versatility of leather, a signature and staple for the brand. Bottega Veneta's it-bags were also present—the new Kalimero bag, as well as the Pillow bag, were carried down the runway.

Among the special guests of the evening were Euphoria's Jacob Elordi, Raf Simons, Neneh Cherry, Julianne Moore, and Pieter Mullier.
