Fendi Fall/Winter 2022 Haute Couture: A Tribute to Eternal Elegance

A celebration of timeless elegance, the Fendi Fall/Winter 2022 Haute Couture collection reminds the world of the beauty of luxury: being able to wear it.

Fendi's Fall/Winter 2022 Haute Couture collection has arrived at just the right time. A reminder of how the essence of minimalism—and the elegance that derives from it—is the ABCs of beauty. Kim Jones presents a collection that stands out from all those seen during these days of Haute Couture in Paris for its extreme wearability. Couture dresses have always fascinated me, but I must admit, while most of the time they are extremely interesting and intriguing, they are destined for a life crystallized behind a shop window, or buried in the archives. Fendi changes the rules and invests in a selection of easily imaginable hyper-luxury garments worn by the international noblesse, at a gala dinner or simply for a summer Sunday. All of course, without falling into banality.

The show opened with a trio of camel looks: two tailored trouser suits and a long knitted dress with a high neckline and flared skirt and sash in a distinctive brown. What distinguishes these garments from the admirable suits in the windows of most? Simple, the quality. Let's talk about vicuña, the finest and most exclusive textile fiber in the world deriving from the smallest of South American camelids. This is followed by a leather suit (a specialty of the Maison) and a mini dress in shades of pale pink meticulously decorated with embroidered flowers. It's a celebration of detail, like the series of Japanese silk asymmetrical patchwork dresses made entirely in Kyoto or the dresses with metallic decorations.

The finale is entirely dedicated to transparency. On the contrary, it is not vulgar, it enhances the female body by letting it become the true protagonist of the look. There are dresses decorated with leaves or covered with sequins—the quintessence of objective beauty and proof of how Jones is innovating the brand without distorting or forgetting the great legacy of Fendi. The Fendi Fall/Winter 2022 Haute Couture collection reminds most of the beauty of this world: the beauty of luxury is being able to wear it.
