The newest Emporio Armani collection celebrates nature, completely departing from the bustle of urban life.
In an attempt to leave the rigidities of urban civilization behind, Emporio Armani's Spring/Summer 2025 collection transports man back to the natural. It seeks to bring back the feeling of freedom as if one were alone in a field of flowers. The show opened with footage of horses in stride, cementing the designer's wishes to move away from the skyscrapers and into the fields.
The natural theme starts with the show's color scheme. Different silhouettes are shown in varying shades of corn, hay, and sand, with the occasional lavender or grass a welcome sight. The garments, primarily made of light wool and silk, give way to a feeling of weightless voluminousness. The denims provide a stability and predictability that is reminiscent of nature itself. The trousers of the collection embody an equestrian element: straight, soft, and high-waisted. To embody an even deeper sense of freedom, trousers transformed into Bermuda shorts—movable and chic.
The accessories of the collection also conjured an image of natural work at its peak: woven straw hats that appear to be as functional as they are well constructed and baskets filled with lavender to replace a tote of otherwise city-centric design. The jewelry, mostly made of stones one might find on a beachside trek, also appeared to fit the show's themes.
The collection draws on the brand's history while taking a decisive step away from the sectioned-off, sports-focused collections of its past. The brand's penchant for tailoring was taken into the wilderness, providing some visually engaging takes on Western-inspired looks. Wide-legged pants and double-layered waistcoats were cinched with rope and braided leather. Finally, many models appeared shirtless, in a nod to the theme's bare-bones implications and in a show of classic Emporio Armani masculinity.
