Amelie Zilber Offers Inside Look at the Dior Fall/Winter 2022 Show
From croissants to the catwalk, see how one of Gen-Z's favorite fashion influencers spends a day during Paris Fashion Week.
When Amelie Zilber arrived at the Place de la Concorde for Dior's Fall/Winter 2022 debut, she describes the energy as "electric." While attending the brand's latest Paris Fashion Week show, the digital creator gives L'OFFICIEL a behind-the-scenes look at how she spent her Dior day.
As a political activist, Zilber connects to designer Maria Grazia Chiuri's dedication to feminism and female empowerment, but her love for fashion has always drawn her to the elegant creations of Dior. Her own style is a blend of vintage pieces and chic staples that complement today's trends while maintaining a timeless ambiance—a concept easily exemplified in her choice of outfit for the show: a black tailored mini skirt and matching cropped blazer, a Burgundy Dior Saddle Bag, pearl Dior earrings, and black ballerina flats. "Chic and classic… the epitome of Dior!"
After starting her day with a basket of croissants and a double espresso, Zilber begins her glam process with a collection of products from Dior Beauty. She keeps her look clean with a coppery brown eye, but she never forgets her three staples: Dior Show waterproof mascara, Dior Addict lipstick, and Rouge Blush.
As she heads to the show, the Parisian cityscape proved to be an apt aperitif for her destination. "The city, boldly elegant and fashionably ever-changing, was bustling with vigor. Parisians draped in fabulous trench-coats walking along the Seine was foretelling of the show to come. Fall and winter pieces uniquely designed by the pinnacle of curated Parisian fashion, Christian Dior," says Zilber.
Inside, the influencer recognizes the significance of the paintings that line the runway. "The female portraits lining the wall, imitating a Renaissance-era style of artwork, highlight the dual perception of women throughout history. For centuries women have existed under a scrutinizing gaze; Mariella Bettineschi’s work transcends the environment into one seeking to defy the limitations placed on women."
In particular, Zilber finds herself drawn to Look 46, a tartan quilted jacket layered on top of a matching skirt and houndstooth corset over a white collared shirt ("The oversized yet curated structure of the outfit beckons thought about outdated perceptions of patterns as overbearing and unstylish"), as well as the diaphanous glamor of Look 79.
Following the show, Zilber made her way backstage to speak with Dior Beauty's Creative Director Peter Philips, noting the models' silver inner corner highlight—a trend she can't wait to see come to fruition.
On the whole, the TikTok star remarks on how grateful she is to have attended a show that finds its center in the celebration of women and women's fashion. "The collection itself, in addition to the environment of the space, led to a narrative defined by feminism and a new era of empowered women inspiring the next generation. The sleek silhouettes, an ode to the origins of women’s Victorian fashion, juxtaposed with techno-inspired pieces allude to the influences of modern fashion: technological innovation and the feminist revolution."
