Remember frothing foundation? Well, with every new trend comes a new invention of beauty application. The latest one to make it into the social media stream is a slight use of self-tanning as contour. The application of self-tanning can already be an intimidating process because you don’t know how it will turn out, will it be orange; how much is it too much? Will it leave a streak on my skin? All of these are valid concerns. But, even if you mess up, it is not the end of the world, and you can still correct the mistake. TikTok’s latest beauty method shows you how to use self-tanning on your face, a method that will give you a naturally bronzed look.

Here at L’OFFICIEL, we bring you the process of applying self-tan to your face to achieve contouring to the next level.

How does facial self-tanning work?

You take your facial self-tanner and apply it to your face the same way you intend to apply your traditional contour product. TikToker Rachel Paige (@raepage) puts the trend to the test in three separate videos that have accumulated more than 10 million views. In one of them, she is seen applying a pump of the product and dispersing it with a makeup brush, the same way she applies her contour. See below:

On the second update, Paige says that the bronzed look is not as defined, but she noticed that under her eyebrows and on the side of the bridge of her nose, she will definitely continue to apply self-tan as she sees it having a positive effect on that area. She mentions that you can correct the mistake of other sections by applying concealer or your other favorite contour product to smooth it out.

On her third installment of tutorials, Paige shows us how to clean up the contour after the self-tan and claims that it is worth using this technique in the future.
