Chanel Unveils Film For the Centenary of Chanel N° 5
Chanel's "Celebrity By" movie celebrates the legacy of the N° 5 fragrance while investigating fame and looking to the future.
An iconic fragrance that has shaped the history of perfumery, Chanel N° 5 celebrates its 100th anniversary in style. Fame has always followed it, and Chanel wants to talk about celebrities. To celebrate this memorable milestone, the maison looks to a series of timeless successes, tapping six authoritative, inspiring voices to reflect on the theme of celebrity. Friend of the house Marion Cotillard fronts the campaign, joined by dancer and choreographer Marie-Agnès Gillot, Chinese fashion media icon Hung Huang, professor of psychology Laurie Santos, former editor of Vanity Fair Graydon Carter, and modern dance prodigy Lil Buck.
The film, titled "Celebrity By" attempts to answer the questions, What is fame? How does a celebrity live? The latest in a series of content to celebrate the centenary of the iconic Chanel N° 5, the film features six eclectic and unique figures in their field, who share an intimate reflection on the evolution of celebrity. Reflecting on the strength and changes brought about by the fragrance in the world, the maison questions the future, wondering how the world will evolve in the next centenary.
Different answers. Ideas that look alike. Conflicting reflections. Each of the six characters brings their own vision of celebrities to "Celebrity By," now available to view on Chanel platforms. To accompany the main project, individual video vignettes of each speaker are also shared to explore their thoughts on the subject in greater depth.
