From cat eyes to rainbow colors, eyeliner is one of the most versatile products to have in your makeup arsenal. The latest trend has been worn by everyone from Ariana Grande to Kylie Jenner and is surprisingly easy to recreate: negative space cut-crease eyeliner.

This mod makeup style calls back to icons of the 1960s, such as Twiggy, Sharon Tate, and Diana Ross. With recent '60s influence infiltrating pop culture—The Queen's Gambit, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, etc.—it's no wonder that this playful eyeliner shape is making a comeback.

To achieve this retro look, create a wing with your favorite eyeliner, and trace inward from the tip to above the crease in a curved V shape. The result is a pared-back version of a cut-crease, giving a doe-eyed definition. For modern variations on the trend, experiment with color, multiple lines, and smoking out your outline for a diffused look.
