Hunter Doohan Chats About Beauty, Masculinity, and YSL Beauty's Latest Fragrance For Men
The leading man of Wednesday is the face of YSL Beauty's MYSLF.
Hunter Doohan, who you may know as Tyler Galpin from the first season of Wednesday, is here to tell you that men can and should smell good too. In a world that isn't completely free of gendered binaries, YSL Beauty aims to break those barriers with a men's fragrance featuring fresh floral notes, with the top notes containing fresh accord and the middle notes carrying orange blossom. The bottom notes are woodier, which is a scent feature more commonly associated with cologne; nevertheless, for those who are hesitant to try YSL Beauty's Myslf, Hunter Doohan would argue that there's no reason to.
Below, Doohan chats with us about YSL Beauty's Myslf, his skincare routine, and his definition of masculinity.
L'OFFICIEL: What’s in and what’s out for 2024?
Hunter Doohan: In- MYSLF by YSL Beauty, of course. Out- Hmmm what can I say without getting myself in trouble… fast fashion?
L'O: Did you have any New Year’s resolutions for 2024? Or anything that you’re manifesting?
HD: To be honest I hate New Year’s resolutions… But I’m excited for 2024, I finally get to go back and make season 2 with everyone I love from Wednesday!
L'O: How are you embracing beauty and wellness this year?
HD: Just trying to stay consistent in my routines especially when traveling which can be tough.
L'O: What’s your relationship with beauty and wellness and how has that evolved over the years?
HD: I owe so much to all my friends who helped me figure out an actual skincare routine. Ask your friends with good skin for tips!!
L'O: What makes fragrance such an important part of your routine?
HD: I think the fact that it’s usually the last part of my routine before heading out makes it important and really helps me feel good, confident and ready to go.
L'O: What about the YSL MYSLF fragrance are you drawn to?
HD: I love the versatility of MYSLF. I feel like anyone can wear it. It’s floral, but woody. It’s not overpowering while still making a statement!
L'O: How do you define masculinity?
HD: Honestly, I don’t even like to think about what is masculine. We all have a masculine and feminine side. To sit and try to define everything in your life and personality as masculine or feminine is limiting, exhausting, and just boring.
