Virgil Abloh’s Ikea Collaboration Is Primed to Take Over Paris Fashion Week
Virgil Abloh took over Paris’ last major fashion week when he debuted his first menswear collection for luxury legacy house, Louis Vuitton. For women’s ready-to-wear, he’s ready to do the same, but by taking the buzz away from our closets and into our living rooms: his hotly-anticipated IKEA collaboration will have its first pop-up shop in the city of light during Paris Fashion Week next month.
The collection, which includes rethought IKEA totes, rugs, a chair, and even a pillow, was rumored to be released in late 2019. However, this early run mid-PFW is set to take the spotlight from the catwalk and into the retail space, which will open on September 29th in Paris' own Cité de la Mode et du Design.
“We just couldn’t wait,” IKEA Range & Supply’s Creative Leader Henrik Most told WWD in a statement. “A lot of people are engaged and curious about this collaboration.” Seeing as buzzy capsule collections are Abloh’s forté, we've placed our bets on the pieces selling out ASAP.
