Marimekko Puts a New Spin on Its Signature Florals for Coffee Lovers
Items in the blue-tinted collaboration span a coffee mug, espresso cup and saucer, and more.
Marimekko's signature florals are getting a fresh treatment, per an announcement from the brand Tuesday morning. It's dropping a collaboration with Blue Bottle Coffee, which serves as a blue-tinted extension of the Finnish design house's line of homeware.
The collection spans six coffee paraphernalia items, including a tumbler, coffee mug, tote bag (printed at Marimekko’s textile factory in Helsinki, Finland), and more. (There's also an apron in the joint drop, but it'll be exclusive to Asia.) Each item is plastered with Marimekko’s famous floral print, named Unikko, in a limited-edition colorway of Nordic Green and Blue Bottle’s signature blue, per the press release. Prices will range from $18 for a coffee spoon to $45 for an espresso cup and saucer.
"Both of our brands share a belief that everyday rituals can be extraordinary when approached with intention. By uniting Marimekko’s bold, timeless design with our dedication to quality coffee, we’ve created an offering that reflects Finnish coffee culture through its signature flavors, inviting rituals, and thoughtful design." Blue Bottle Chief Brand and Experience Officer Simone Hodges said in a statement.
Starting April 25, the collection will be available to shop online and at select stores, including in New York City at the Walker Hotel, located at 396 Broadway.
"At Marimekko, we always strive to bring something new and surprising for our customers, and joining forces with Blue Bottle Coffee for this limited-edition collaboration perfectly aligns Marimekko’s joyful and optimistic lifestyle philosophy with Blue Bottle Coffee’s craft in specialty coffee," Creative Director Rebekka Bay added.
For any Blue Bottle fans who also have a keen eye for design, this collaboration offers the chance to make your morning (or all-day) coffee ritual a little more special.
