Jessie Andrews' Design Vision Comes Alive In Nordic Knots x Tase Gallery Collaboration
The contemporary textile company tapped Jessie Andrews' Los Angeles-based Tase Gallery for a collaboration that invites provocative, dynamic textiles into the home.
As a model, jewelry designer, and entrepreneur, Jessie Andrews has cultivated a fierce appreciation for visual art in all of its forms. From high fashion to avant-garde jewelry to uniquely beautiful furniture, the entrepreneur's pool of inspiration and artistry is undeniably vast, allowing her to tap into uniquely honed senses when it comes to dictating her next viral look, curating a new array of offerings for her Los Angeles-based space, Tase Gallery, and selecting her next acting gig.
After bursting onto the scene in L.A. back in 2011, Andrews quickly became an It girl to keep your eyes on, what with her buzzy modeling career, time spent in the studio as a DJ and producer, and burgeoning entrepreneurial vision—first realized as Bagatiba, the jewelry brand worn by some of the city's biggest stars, with clients ranging from the Hadids to the Kardashians. Over the years, Andrews has become a designer for her ready-to-wear brand, her swimwear line, a guest star on HBO's Euphoria, and most recently, owner of Tase Gallery. The retail gallery concept space, opened by Andrews in February 2021, offers guests an array of ultra-chic furniture and interior selects and artists the unique opportunity to collaborate and be featured in the immersive showroom.

L’OFFICIEL: What inspired your foray into interior design and furniture curation?
Jessie Andrews: I’ve always been aware of how space made me feel. As I got older I realized it wasn’t the size of the room or how bright it was but how the architecture, furniture, lighting, and textures come together to tell a story of someone’s journey in putting it all together and how they want to make you feel. I was inspired by spaces that made me observe deeper, I wanted to be able to tell a story too.
L’O: Given your long-standing relationship with the Nordic Knots team, what were you most excited about going into this collaboration and the design process behind it?
JA: The team is truly incredible and the product is unbeatable. I was excited to work together and do something different than I would on my own. Collaborations are a chance to have a meeting of the minds, to find a common ground of style. I love letting everyday experiences influence design whether it’s aesthetically or functionally, we were able to do just that.
L’O: Besides acting as a grounding piece in any living space, what makes rugs such an important part of interior design?
JA: Rugs have the power to bounce light or absorb it, they can be loud and steal the attention or just be an accessory to the main event. Without a rug, a space feels incomplete to me.
L’O: When it comes to rugs, do you tend to gravitate towards more stand-out pieces or low-key styles?
JA: It really depends on the architecture and design, but naturally I’m drawn to muted colors with texture vs patterns.
L’O: Has your background in fashion/modeling informed your journey into interior design and furniture?
JA: I’ve been able to experience so many beautiful spaces, stores, hotels, and restaurants as well as set design for events and runway show design over the years working in fashion that my spectrum of experienced design is quite broad.
L’O: What draws you towards mid-century modern style specifically?
JA: The thing I love most about Mid-century modern design is the use of nature, incorporating trees, rocks, landscapes, and skylights. The way natural light slips into its functionality. It’s simple yet elegant.
L’O: Are there any design styles you’d like to experiment with in future collections/collaborations/spaces?
JA: We’re seeing this shift from clean wabi-sabi spaces with marble and plaster walls into low lighting, wood-paneled rooms, and deep color tones which I love. I’m excited to design in a new space and play with my version of this switch.
L’O: How has your experience building Tase Gallery shaped you as an entrepreneur?
JA: Building Tase from an idea to support artists and build community into a brand that can create and collaborate to storytell has been a dream. It has taught me to evolve and let experiences guide me to the next chapter.
L’O: How did you train your eye for interior design and furniture curation?
JA: I believe it’s something that comes naturally.
L’O: What’s the most difficult part of selecting pieces for display/for retail?
JA: I don’t find it difficult to select because it’s only about choosing what’s right for right now. I can’t be married to one piece or style, I have to let the choice advance or it will become stale and easy to replicate.
L’O: What’s your all-time favorite piece that has come through Tase Gallery?
JA: I’m obsessed with our Dott dinner table, it’s the perfect size and shape for sharing an intimate meal.
