Get Ready for V Day with Darcy Miller's Pop-Up at Bloomingdale's
Beneath the brisk winter sun, amongst the hustle and bustle of Midtown on a Saturday afternoon, sensing the romantic aura as couples wander in and out of shops, we pause at The Carousel, a charming new locale that can be found on the first floor of the luxurious Bloomingdale’s on 59th street.
Martha Stewart editor, author, crafter, party connoisseur, memory keeper, wife, and mother, Darcy Miller is the extraordinary vision behind Bloomingdale’s Valentines themed pop-up which will be open throughout February, having launched on February 9.
Before becoming a celebrated events expert, Miller was a window dresser in for the same department store that she is now curating events for. Also, the artist has created eleven enchanting designs that can be easily embroidered onto any of the purchases you make from the “Love is...” line, making for a memorable gift to that special someone, be it your best friend, your significant other, or your elderly neighbor.
The shop is sprinkled with dabs from Miller’s Celebrate Love collection, including tins of decadent Louis Sherry chocolates, old school leather scrapbooks and journals, and delicate and indulgent candles that are fantastically decorated by Miller herself, showing off her talent as a whimsical illustrator. In addition to these exuberant products, there are also products available from Miller's collaborations and partnerships with names including Aerin Lauder and Tory Burch.
Already being visited by Serena Williams, Drew Barrymore, and Rachel Brosnahan, the Valentine's Day Pop Up is the place to be if you’re in the Big Apple this month. On this special day of mingling, viewing, and shopping, shoppers are welcomed to stop by for an afternoon of crafts and arts including manicures, cookie decorating, flower-arranging classes, and calligraphy. And before you leave, be sure to stop by the photo booth down the hall to make your Valentine's afternoon a keepsake memory that you are sure to look back upon with romantic nostalgia.
