Beyoncé and Jay-Z Purchase California's Most Expensive Home
The couple reportedly bought the property for $200 million.
Beyoncé and Jay-Z continue to live like royalty. On Friday, an anonymous real estate source told celebrity news site TMZ that the couple bought a Malibu property on the market for $200 million. The architectural estate was officially confirmed as the most expensive home ever sold in the state of California — a home that now belongs to the Knowles-Carter.
The massive 8-acre property spans 30,000 square feet, overlooking the Pacific Ocean. It was designed by Japanese architect Tadao Ando and was built by renowned art collector William Bell — a project that took 15 years to complete. While the celebrity couple paid $200 million for the mansion, they actually paid significantly less than its original price of $295 million.
Their transaction surpasses the previous record-breaking California home sale of $177 million and is the second most expensive real estate deal in the country, only behind a $238 million New York City apartment. This marks Beyoncé and Jay-Z's second mansion in the Los Angeles area, as the couple bought a Bel-Air mansion for $88 million back in 2017.
The finalized purchase comes during an already-busy time for the couple, specifically for Beyoncé. The singer is in the opening leg of her Renaissance World Tour, where she's made continuous headlines since opening night. The rave reviews praise numerous elements, from her unbelievable vocals to her custom couture fashion looks.
With the tour not wrapping up until well into the fall, it may be a few months until the family is able to comfortably enjoy their new estate.
