The Best Places to Elope for a Beautiful, Low-key Ceremony

Start your marriage on the right foot by tying the knot in one of these idyllic, secluded resorts and destinations.

A recent national survey showed that as high as 62% of couples are open to eloping, and perhaps for good reason. As weddings seem like a greater and greater undertaking every year (looking at you, Ambani), and people are increasingly interconnected, it might seem unnecessary to put together a huge ceremony that involves a range of friends and family. Elopements, on the other hand, have a long list of upsides and still get the legal job done.

A modern elopement typically involves the couple and a few close friends or family members, making it far more intimate than a traditional wedding while bringing together only those who love the couple most. This often makes for a very emotional ceremony, so bring tissues! It’s also not uncommon to have an elopement with nobody except for the couple and the officiator. This can alleviate financial pressure and drama, while allowing the couple to adventure to an exhilarating destination. After all, why wait for the honeymoon when your marriage ceremony could be part of it?

While the ceremony may be private, there’s nothing wrong with sharing it via social media afterward. For this, capturing the beauty of the location is just as important as capturing the affection of the couple, because a scenic backdrop can make the photo a masterpiece instead of a mere memory. Additionally, the landscape that surrounds a couple as they tie the knot can spread positivity to them–as they see how beautiful the world is, they will also be inclined to appreciate how beautiful their spouse is. As much as we all want to live our entire lives in stunning locations like these, it’s probably not realistic, so how about starting the rest of our lives with a visit to them instead? Here are some of the best places to elope for a gorgeous, spontaneous ceremony.

With transcendent colors everywhere, moments of gentle serenity and enchantment come easily, making it ideal for an elopement.
