Collect Your Reading Glasses, the Tod’s Library Is Open
Hudson Yards is New York’s neighborhood of the future existing in the present, and as well all know, every neighborhood needs a library. Lucky for us, May 9 marked the introduction of Hudson Yards to the Tod’s Library. While it is not your typical brick-and-mortar book shop or even a public library with rows and aisles of bookshelves, it’s something a bit more fitting for the luxury neighborhood on the rise. Tod’s Library is a boutique made for the digitally aware customer and is the 14th U.S. boutique for the company. The Italian brand, known for its craftsmanship and understated luxury aesthetic has been around for over a century and this library is the start of a revolution in retail.
The launch party was attended by the brand’s chairman, Diego Della Valle, and friends of the company including Naomi Watts, Richard Gere, Alex Assouline, Anh Duong, Charlott Cordes, Dorian Grinspan, Dylana & Natalie Suarez, Jamie Tisch, Jessica Joffe, and RJ King. In celebration of the exciting opening, notable guests explored the 1,600 square foot space, perusing the Tod’s iconic products and experimenting with the boutique’s customization service as they created unique one-of-a-kind pieces.
The store’s layout is unlike any before and exists as an homage to the natural materials and meticulous attention to detail the brand is famous for. Its design features subtly veined Italian marble floors and polished concrete walls. Bags and shoes are displayed on rich teak shelving and spotless white travertine that covers every mirror-polished stainless steel table. Vachetta leather, used for decades by Tod’s highly skilled artisans to craft a range of styles, is employed generously throughout the space for customers to experience the soul of the brand.
The library is now open, and you can visit for yourself any day in Hudson Yards.
