Referred to as the "original Kim Kardashian," Zsa Zsa Gabor paved the way to today's consuming celebrity culture. Beginning her stage career in 1936, the young beauty was crowned Miss Hungary and shortly left her hometown of Budapest, to live out the Hollywood dream. Gabor's striking beauty and European charm quickly caught the attention of Hollywood names such as film director John Huston who casted her in Moulin Rouge, thus launching her career. But it wasn't her movies that kept her in the spotlight.

The Hungarian actress took on nine husbands, headlines, paparazzi, and quickly became one of the most significant socialites. Gabor was not only a sex symbol but an example of female empowerment. She wasn't shy about speaking on her many romances, and once joked, "I am a marvelous housekeeper: Every time I leave a man I keep his house." Much like Kardashian, every way that Gabor presented herself, the trend of the times shifted with her. Gabor's sultry elegance captivated the public and her penchant for extravagance created what the New York Times called "the art of being famous for being famous" (another Kardashian parallel). On Gabor's birthday, L'OFFICIEL looks back on the star's youth and most "Zsa Zsa" moments.
