Who is Ethan Slater, Ariana Grande's New Boyfriend?
After reportedly heading toward a divorce with Dalton Gomez, Ariana Grande is in a new relationship with Wicked co-star Ethan Slater.
Not even a week after reportedly heading toward a divorce with Dalton Gomez, Ariana Grande is said to be dating actor Ethan Slater. Who is Slater, Grande's new beau? That's the question that really matters. One of the biggest things we know about him is that he is Grande's Wicked co-star, as the couple plays Glinda and Boq, respectively.
According to TMZ, the pair allegedly started dating during filming "several months ago." This comes after Grande and Gomez called it quits, and while they haven't filed for divorce yet, sources told TMZ that they are close to doing so.
Though Grande and Slater are in a rumored romance, some are questioning the relationship as Slater is currently married to singer Lilly Jay since 2018 and the two have a son they just welcomed into the world last year. Sources told TMZ that Jay and Slater are separated, and his new romance with Grande did not ignite until afterward.
"Ariana and Dalton separated in January," an insider told People. "She and Ethan recently began dating, and he is separated from his wife."
However, sources close to the couple told Page Six that his wife was "completely blindsided" by "suddenly breaking up now when nothing appeared wrong between them."
"It’s horrible. They were high school sweethearts. They have a baby! She’s a wreck,” the insider continued.
Jay has not commented on the split or Slater's new relationship.
Beyond Wicked, Slater has quite the lineup of acting credits, most notably for his Broadway and Off-Broadway performances. In 2017, when was only a sophomore in college, he made his Broadway debut as Spongebob in the Spongebob Squarepants musical. His performance led to him receiving a Tony nomination and a Drama Desk Award.
Other performances he's had a role in include Camelot, Assassins, Baghdaddy, and Goodnight, Oscar. In 2022, it was revealed Slater would join the Wicked cast alongside Grande, Cynthia Erivo, Michelle Yeoh, and Jonathan Bailey. As stated earlier, he takes on the role of Boq, who has a romantic interest in Glinda but eventually falls in love with Elphaba’s younger sister Nessarose (played by Marissa Bode).
Since news broke of Grande and Slater's rumored relationship, neither of the actors has said anything. Grande has deleted all images of Gomez from her social media accounts and Slater's Instagram is currently on private.
