As the nominees for the 2024 Academy Awards begin to prep to walk the Oscars 2024 red carpet later today in Los Angeles, we couldn't help but wonder: where do past Oscars winners store their iconic golden statuettes?

Since they began in 1929, the Academy Awards have been some of the most prestigious honors an actor could hope for. While the Oscar statuette looks great perched upon a fireplace mantle or inside a display case, many winners opt for more unconventional displays—some are even rumored to use their Oscar as a doorstop.

Barbra Streisand - Best Actress 1969 (Funny Girls)

Barbra Streisand won her first Oscar back in 1969 for Best Actress in Funny Girl. The star simply displays the awards in the living room of her Los Angeles home.

Goldie Hawn - Best Supporting Actress 1970 (Cactus Flower)

Goldie Hawn, who won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for Cactus Flower in 1970, said she keeps her figurine in the room where she usually meditates. How zen!

Emma Thompson - Best Actress 1993 (Howards End)

Emma Thompson, winner of two Oscars (in 1993 for Best Actress and 1996 for Best Non-Original Screenplay) can serenely admire her awards in the privacy of her bathroom.

Kate Winslet has won two Academy Awards, one for Best Actress in 2009 with The Reader, and one for Best Supporting Actress in 2011 with Steve Jobs. To continue the pattern, Winslet also keeps her Oscar in the bathroom.

Natalie Portman - Best Actress 2011 (Black Swan)

Natalie Portman, winner of the 2011 award for Best Actress with Black Swan, doesn't actually remember where she put the gilded Oscar. 

Cate Blanchett - Best Actress 2014 (Blue Jasmine)

Cate Blanchett won the award for Best Supporting Actress with The Aviator in 2004 and Best Actress in 2014 with Blue Jasmine. The actress said she donated the first to The Australian Centre for the Moving Image, while the second is kept in her home.

Emma Stone - Best Actress 2017 (La La Land)

Emma Stone, who won Best Actress in 2017 for La La Land, gave her award to her mom for safekeeping.

Olivia Colman - Best Actress 2019 (The Favorite)

Olivia Colman, who was awarded Best Actress for The Favorite in 2019, says she keeps the award in bed between her and her husband. Comforting, indeed!
