British singer and DJ Blaine Muise, professionally known as Shygirl, has been on the cusp of stardom for years and recently received a Mercury Prize nomination for her debut album, Nymph. released in 2022. Her rise to prominence came after her work with friend and close collaborator Sega Bodega, along with the likes of cutting-edge producers Arca and the late SOPHIE. But Shygirl released various singles since 2016 and doesn&rsquo;t confine herself to one genre of music in particular, blending hyper-pop, hip-hop, and dance music. Muise was born on May 4th, 1993 in London, England, and grew up around Catford, a district in Southeast London. She studied practical photography at the University of Bristol

In her early 20s, Muise studied practical photography at the University of Bristol and found the environment to be creatively enhancing. At this time, she also worked at a modeling agency during the day and DJed at night.

Back in May, Shygirl joined Icelandic singer Bj&ouml;rk to DJ for a rave beneath a bridge in Brooklyn.
