Aaron Johnson and Sam Taylor-Wood first met on the set of the 2009 film Nowhere Boy in which Aaron, then 18, plays a young John Lennon. Sam, then 42, directed the film. In 2008, Sam announced that she was separating from her husband, Jay Jopling, after 11 years. The couple shares two daughters.
2009: The Engagement.
After a year of dating, the couple announced their engagement at the premiere of Nowhere Boy.
2010: Sam and Aaron Taylor-Johnson welcome their first child.
In early 2010, the couple announced they were expecting their first child. A spokesperson for the couple told The Daily Mail that they were very happy about the news. Later that year, the pair welcomed their daughter, Wylda Rae Johnson.
2012: The pair announces their second child and a surprise wedding.
In 2012, the power couple shared with People that they had welcomed their daughter Romy Hero Johnson. Later in the year, the couple tied the knot; their wedding took place at a church in Somerset. Following the marriage, both Sam and Aaron changed their last names to Taylor-Johnson.
2015: Aaron speaks about his name change.
Aaron spoke about his name change. "Changing my name was beautiful," he told The Guardian, emphasizing how important it was for him.
2017: Sam speaks on their age gap.
In 2017, Sam came out publicly to respond to the ongoing questions about their relationship's age gap. "People like to talk about it. I'm like, 'Yeah, but it works better than my last marriage.' It's lasted longer than a lot of my friends' marriages," she told The Hollywood Reporter.
2019: The Joint Interview.
In 2019, Sam and Aaron, together, discussed their upcoming film, A Million Little Pieces, and revealed details about their strong relationship. "I remember it very, very clearly. I know exactly what she was wearing. This white shirt that she still has, that I love. It definitely changed my life, though not in the way I expected," Aaron told Harper's Bazaar.
2021: The couple gets matching tattoos.
The pair tatted each other's names across their chest, with Aaron getting "Sam" next to a hummingbird and Sam getting "Aaron" by her collarbone.
January 2023: Trouble in Paradise?
On January 17, the TikTok user named Kyle Marisa Roth (@thekylemarisa) shared a blind item that Aaron had been hooking up with his Bullet Train co-star Joey King while on the press tour for the film in July. The user also claimed that the pair have been seeing each other romantically following the movie's release. King is currently engaged to Steven Piet.
The rumor has since been debunked as no evidence has surfaced to support the blind item, and the couple is still happily married.
