Patricia Field Will Not Be Returning for the 'Sex and the City' Reboot
The costume designer wants to focus on Emily in Paris instead.
There's a reason why we keep coming back to Sex and the City, and the show's era-defining fashion can be attributed to none other than Patricia Field. The costume designer and stylist—who was nominated for an Oscar for costuming The Devil Wears Prada—has since gone on to work on consulting projects and open a boutique selling made-to-order pieces in collaboration with artists. We can't help but wonder what looks Field would cook up for a 2021 Carrie, but don't count on seeing her work during the Sex and the City reboot.
In an interview with WWD, Field settled the rumors of why she chose not to return to the show. "The main reason was a time conflict. I wasn’t able to be in New York doing that and be in Paris doing Emily in Paris. But I told them to call my very dear friend Molly Rogers, who also worked in my store back in the day. She did Sex and the City with me from start to finish. She knew it well so she’s doing it. My dance card was full," she told the publication.
