More than 20 years ago, Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie took over our TV screens with a reality show called The Simple Life. The series followed the socialites as they temporarily gave up their riches for modest lifestyles and labored jobs in rural parts of America. Now, the two are back on TV with a new reality show on Peacock. The former reality TV stars took to Instagram back in May to tease their new show.

The post shows a clip of a Y2K-era TV where a static recording of the best friends singing can be heard. The caption of the post read, "New Era. Same Besties. 👯‍♀️ Coming soon to Peacock."

A Brief History of The Simple Life

For those of you who are unaware of the reality television masterpiece that was The Simple Life, the show, which made its debut on December 2, 2003, started strong with three smash-hit seasons on Fox. However, following a feud between Hilton and Richie, Fox decided to cancel the show. Reality TV kings, E!, came to the rescue and decided to pick up the show and release its fourth and fifth seasons before canceling the series altogether.

The success of The Simple Life led to I Want to Be a Hilton, which essentially flipped the idea of The Simple Life and had contestants from rural and suburban areas compete in a series of contests that can lead to a final prize of $200,000 in "trust funds," a new apartment, and a new wardrobe. For some reason, 2000s television had a weird fascination with putting individuals in uncomfortable and out-of-element situations as a series similar to The Simple Life; Filthy Rich: Cattle Drive also aired on E! in 2005. The show sent young socialites to live on a rural ranch without technology or any of the luxuries they were used to. A famous alum of the show, Kourtney Kardashian, of course, went on to create a reality TV empire of her own with her sisters.

Since The Simple Life, Hilton and Richie have separated their projects from their friendship. Hilton starred in her own reality TV show, Paris in Love, and released several very successful fragrances. Richie participated in several fashion campaigns for magazines like Marie Claire and ELLE and authored a novel titled The Truth About Diamonds. So now, with the partnership rekindled, fans of the duo and 2000s pop culture enthusiasts are ready to see what's to come in this reboot. Here is everything L'OFFICIEL knows about the reality stars' newest show so far.

On Monday August 5, Hilton and Richie shot scenes for The Simple Life reboot at a Sonic Drive-In in California.

The iconic duo, known as “Silly” and “Billy” on the show, put a stylish spin on the fast food chain’s blue uniform. Hilton, 43, was seen wearing a pair of sparkling silver heels, sporting mirrored sunglasses, and carrying a personalized diamond encrusted handbag. Richie, 42, added a pair of cream heels to her look, and to complete their outfits, was of course, their name tags.

Richie proved she hasn’t lost her classic sense of humor when she traded her blue uniform for a hot dog costume that she paired with a Sonic Drive-In hat while filming. Still wearing her slingback heels, she held hands with Hilton as she strutted down the sidewalk.

This show seems like it's going to be everything we could have hoped for and more, so all we can say for now is: "That's hot."
