The pair were seen arriving in a chauffeured Mercedes to an upscale dinner together with a friend before enjoying an intimate embrace outside on a walk near the river. They were later seen departing in a cab around midnight.

Prior to his budding romance with Depp, Butler dated High School Musical actress Vanessa Hudgens from 2011 to early 2020. The pair broke up after nine years together just a month or so prior to the COVID-19 pandemic while the actor was in Australia filming the upcoming Elvis Presley biopic in which he plays the lead role.
