Between filming Keeping Up with the Kardashians and taking care of her four kids, Kim Kardashian West still manages to find time to advocate for the causes near and dear to her heart. Her burgeoning law career and prison reform activism has sparked real change in the lives of incarcerated individuals, while her call of attention to the homelessness epidemic in LA. resulted in an anonymous million dollar donation. Both on- and off-screen, the KKW Beauty entrepreneur continues to fight for others. To celebrate her 40th birthday, here's a look at some of the causes she's championed over the years.

Criminal Justice Reform

One of the Skims founder's most public causes has been her fight for criminal justice reform. In 2018, Kardashian West persuaded President Trump to give clemency to Alice Marie Johnson, a single mother of five who was 22 years into a life sentence for drug trafficking at the time of her release. The reality TV star also played an instrumental role in the passing of the First Step Act, which offers sentence reductions for certain federal drug charges.

By 2019, Kardashian West's work with the Buried Alive Project on the 90 Days of Freedom campaign led to the successful release of more than 17 people imprisoned on nonviolent drug charges.

Armenia Fund

The beauty mogul recently announced her donation of $1 million to the Armenia Fund, a non-profit organization providing humanitarian relief to the people of Armenia and Artsakh impacted by the current war with Azerbaijan. She has previously spoken about the issue, which she connects to through her Armenian heritage, and encouraged fans to donate to the cause as well. Her sisters Kourtney and Khloé Kardashian also spoke out in support of the Armenia Fund on social media.

Kardashian West shared the importance of her heritage on Keeping Up With the Kardashians, first bringing her daughter, North, to Armenia in 2015 to be baptized, and then getting baptized herself, along with her other three children, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm, last year.

Baby2Baby

During the height of the coronavirus pandemic, the star announced the restocking of the Skims Cotton Collection with a heartfelt twist. Twenty percent of the proceeds were donated to Baby2Baby’s COVID-19 Emergency Response Program, which supports families living below the poverty level by donating things like diapers, formula, blankets, and more.

Throughout the years, the celebrity has brought her star power to various LA charities. In a 2017 episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, the mother of four visited Alexandria House, a shelter for women and single mothers, to shine a light on homelessness in LA. Kardashian West donated beauty products, childcare necessities, hair services, and more, before listening to residents tell their stories.

In the months after the episode aired, Alexandria House received more than $1 million in donations. "Just got off the phone w/our show producers who informed me that since our episode on homelessness aired @ahouse_la have been flooded w/donations from people who were so moved!" Kardashian West tweeted. "One person even donated $1mil. THANK U to those who have helped to make a difference! #AlexandriaHouse."

She also volunteered at the LA Mission, serving meals to the less fortunate, and last year, she was joined by her mom, Kris Jenner, and sister Kourtney at the LA Regional Food Bank, giving out Thanksgiving groceries to those in need.
