It may be surprising to see one of your favorite stars or personalities in a popular show or movie, but many celebrities have made appearances on the screen. Whether they're playing themselves or are cast in a fun role, it is always exciting to watch a celebrity cameo. From Kim Kardashian to Taylor Swift to Joe Biden, L'OFFICIEL looks back at 10 of the most iconic celebrity cameos. 

Britney Spears

Britney Spears was in two episodes of How I Met Your Mother. The popstar played Abby, the naive and obsessive receptionist for one of Ted's most prominent love interests Stella. Spears' appearance on the show gained mass attention, further popularizing the sitcom.

Kim Kardashian

Kim Kardashian has had many television cameos but one of her most iconic appearances was as herself in 2 Broke Girls. In the episode, a television producer asks the two main characters to shoot the Kardashians' reality show at their cupcake window. Kardashian makes a special appearance in the episode, surprising the girls at work. 

Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift made a cameo as Elain in the hit show New Girl. Swift only appears in one scene but makes a lasting impression nonetheless. Her character served to further the plotline between the main characters Schmidt and Cece and her appearance is an exciting addition to the show. 

Michelle Obama

Michelle Obama appeared as herself in Season 5 of the Nickelodeon show iCarly. In this episode, Carly sets up a live webcast for her father who is in the army. Obama makes a cameo at the end, helping out Carly and her friends when they almost get arrested.

Kesha

Many were surprised to realize that Kesha was on Jane the Virgin. The singer played Anabelle, an obnoxious and loud aspiring rockstar that lives next door to Jane. Although she only appears for one episode, her cameo on the show has grown to be iconic.

Madonna

While Madonna is no stranger to the big screen, in 2003, the singer made an appearance in the sitcom Will & Grace. She plays Liz, an office worker who intrigues Karen (Megan Mullally). However, after becoming friends, the two realize they are both interested in the same man which results in a fight.

Joe Biden

Joe Biden appears on two episodes of the sitcom Parks and Recreation. The president makes a cameo on Season 5 of the show then reappears in Season 7 with his wife Jill. Biden has made many appearances on television shows but this is no doubt the president's most iconic.

Prince

Prince made his television show debut in Season 3 of New Girl. In the episode, the star invites Jess and Cece to a mansion party and has a heart-to-heart with Jess. Although he only briefly appears in the show, the episode and Prince's role are integral to the show's central love story. 

Katy Perry

Katy Perry plays the naive Honey in How I Met Your Mother. In the episode, Perry goes on a date with Ted, making him realize that he is actually in love with her cousin. The pop star's appearance on the show is fun and comedic and one of Perry's most iconic cameos.

Paris Hilton

Paris Hilton appears in an episode of Supernatural as a shape-shifting goddess named Leshi. In the show, Hilton's character feeds on her fans and is ultimately beheaded by Sam. Hilton rocks a bright blue dress on the show and her cameo was beloved by fans.
