Grimes and Elon Musk Separate After 3 Years
The couple welcomed their son X Æ A-12 in May 2020.
After three years together, Elon Musk and Grimes have officially called it quits.
On Friday, the Tesla CEO revealed that the couple have broken up but are still co-parenting and living together. Musk told Page Six, "We are semi-separated but still love each other, see each other frequently and are on great terms."
"It's mostly that my work at SpaceX and Tesla requires me to be primarily in Texas or traveling overseas and her work is primarily in LA," added the tech entrepreneur. "She's staying with me now and Baby X is in the adjacent room."
Last week, the techno-pop singer walked the 2021 Met Gala red carpet solo, however, Musk did join her for the accompanying event. The couple previously made their relationship public at the same event in 2018.
In early 2020, the singer announced that she was pregnant with her first and Musk's seventh child. Their son X Æ A-12 (pronounced "Ex Ash A Twelve") was born in May of that year. While the eccentric name caused mass confusion over what the child would be called, interviews with the parents reveal that he is often referred to as X or Ash.
