21 Celebrities You Didn't Know Went to High School Together
Before they were sitting at the same award shows, these A-listers were sitting in the same chemistry classroom.
Whether it's on red carpets or on set, in star-studded friend circles or romantic entanglements, celebrities often cross paths. However, perhaps more surprisingly, many were sitting in the same classrooms long before securing their A-list status. Now, they've gone on to direct and star in the biggest films, and create and produce the biggest songs. Some of them have even worked together or remained close friends. Here, take a look at which famous names went to high school together.
John Krasinski and B.J. Novak
Before they were co-stars on The Office, the actors were students at Newton South High School in Massachusetts.
Rami Malek, Rachel Bilson, and Kirsten Dunst
The three attended Notre Dame High School in Sherman Oaks, California. Malek and Dunst were friendly during that time, and the Bohemian Rhapsody actor said that he had a crush on his classmate.
His relationship with Bilson? Not as smooth. Recently, a throwback picture that The O.C. actress posted two years ago of her and Malek from their senior year in high school came back into the news when she shared that the Oscar-winner asked her to take it down. "I was super-bummed because he was always so nice and we were good friends, and I'm a big fan of not taking yourself seriously, especially at that level of fame and talent," Bilson said. "But look, he wants to be super-respected, it's his thing, so I respected it. I took it down. I was just a little bummed at how it was handled."
Lenny Kravitz and Nicolas Cage
Kravitz and Cage both attended Beverly Hills High School in the '80s.
Scarlett Johansson and Jack Antonoff
The actress and musician not only attended high school in New York at the same time but actually dated briefly during that time. They even went to prom together.
Ben Affleck and Matt Damon
It's no secret that the two have been best friends since childhood. Growing up in Massachusetts, Affleck and Damon attended Cambridge Rindge and Latin School. The stars went on to write and star in Good Will Hunting, which earned them both their first Academy Award for Best Screenplay. They've remained close and continue to collaborate in Hollywood.
Kate Hudson and Liv Tyler
Hudson and Tyler attended California's Crossroads School for Arts & Sciences. Now, they continue to be close friends and even co-stars.
Ansel Elgort and Timothée Chalamet
The Baby Driver actor and Call Me By Your Name star were classmates at New York City's LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts. And the two were pals—Elgort congratulated Chalamet on his Golden Globe in 2017 by writing on Instagram, "It's really crazy, Timmy and I played on the same basketball team, we had the same drama teacher, Mr. Shifman, we had the same science teacher, Mr. Singh, and then in the same year, both of us are nominated for a Golden Globe!!! Living the dream sitting courtside at the Knicks game together. Life is crazy. Congrats to you Timmy."
Jonah Hill and Adam Levine
Hill and Levine go way back—they were actually best buds growing up, and attended Brentwood High School in Los Angeles at the same time.
"We were in carpool," Hill told Howard Stern in 2014, "and lived at each other's houses." The unexpected duo remains close today.
Nicole Kidman and Naomi Watts
Australian natives Watts and Kidman attended North Sydney Girls High School together, where they became friends. Now both Hollywood stars, they've remained close.
Cameron Diaz and Snoop Dogg
The actress and rapper attended high school together in California. In a 2011 interview, Diaz recalls, "I remember he was very tall and skinny. He wore lots of ponytails."
But that's not the only thing she remembers. "I'm pretty sure I bought weed from him," Diaz said. Good to know things haven't changed.
