Beyoncé is one of the most famous names in the music industry and beyond, launching successful projects like her activewear label Ivy Park and the 2020 film Black is King. Outside of the entertainment industry, she keeps her personal life private, escaping media exposure and finding her own way to balance fame. But, after long months of social isolation, the singer gave a rare interview for the December issue of British Vogue, talking about everything from work ventures, uplifting Black talent, and spending time with her children.

“[I] have changed completely. It would be difficult to experience life in a pandemic and the current social unrest and not be changed,” reveals the singer in an interview with Edward Enninful, Editor-in-Chief of British Vogue. “I learned that my voice is clearer when I'm standing still. I really enjoy this time with my family, and my new goal is to slow down and get rid of the stressful things in my life."

Beyoncé explains that since entering the music industry at just 15 years old, she has been woking non-stop. “I spent a lot of time focusing on building my legacy and representing my culture in the best way I know how. Now, I decided to give myself permission to focus on my joy." In the past five years, the singer released Lemonade during her Formation World Tourgave birth to twins, performed at Coachella, directed Homecoming, went on another tour with husband Jay-Z, and then created Black is King–all back to back–she explained.

As for family, the singer spoke on guiding and cherishing her children during these turbulent times. "My best advice is to love them more than ever," she explains. “I made my children know that they are never too young to contribute to changing the world. I never underestimate their thoughts and feelings, and I examine them to understand how it is affecting them.”
