Beyoncé and Blue Ivy Carter Make History at the 63rd Annual Grammys
Beyoncé is the most nominated artist of the night at the 63rd annual Grammy Awards, up for nine categories. The icon has secured four wins for Best Music Video for "Brown Skin Girl," Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song for her collaboration with Megan Thee Stallion for "Savage," and Best R&B Performance for "Black Parade."
Queen Bey's 9-year-old daughter Blue Ivy Carter also won her first Grammy for "Brown Skin Girl" music video. The young talent had a writing credit on her mom's track. Blue Ivy is the second youngest Grammy winner in history.
Her mom also makes history, breaking the record for most Grammy wins by a female artist with a total of 28 awards. Beyoncé won alongside Megan Thee Stallion for Best Rap Song for their "Savage" remix, and her win for Best R&B Performance for "Black Parade" put her over Allison Kraus' 27-award record. For the occasion, Beyoncé opted for a black leather Schiaparelli mini dress and black and gold statement earrings. "Black Parade" is also up for Record of the Year.
Fans may have been suprised to see Beyoncé and husband Jay-Z made in the live audience after the star declined to perform at the awards show. Beyoncé's absence from the stage was announced following The Weeknd's boycott of the awards show after he was snubbed from nominations this year and controversy was raised around the Recording Academy's allegedly biased voting system.
