We've been seeing a revival of early 2000s pop punk culture everywhere, from fashion to music, and the reigning queen of angsty teens everywhere has brought Y2K nostalgia to TikTok. Avril Lavigne made her debut on the viral video app with the help of skateboarding legend Tony Hawk.

For her first video, Lavigne lipsynced to her 2002 release "Sk8er Boi" while crouching on the edge of a half-pipe in a lush oceanside backyard. The camera then cut to Tony Hawk, grinning at the camera before performing skate tricks while the song continued in the background. "He was a… @tonyhawk" read Lavigne's clever caption, referencing her hit song.

Both stars served pop punk vibes with their outfits: Lavigne wore a cutoff graphic tee under a loose red and blue striped necktie, paired with her signature smudgy eyeliner and pin-straight blonde hair. Hawk wore a matching tie with his graphic tee.

Clearly, sentimentality for the 2000s has resonated well with the public—since being posted Monday, June 21, the video has amassed 13.9 million views, 3.2 million likes, and over 80,000 comments.
