Though the series looks back at the family's history beginning with the death of King George V, two episodes are devoted to the arrival of Diana Spencer and the legacy she left. Who better to tell her story than the princess herself? In 1991, Princess Diana participated in a series of secret interviews with journalist Andrew Morton, who aimed to make an unpublished biographical book. Directed by David Tillman and Tom Jennings, this documentary is based on these carefully preserved recordings. Viewers hear Diana speak candidly about her difficulties as a princess, her relationship with Prince Charles, and her obsession with his mistress Camilla Parker Bowles. Carried by her emotion-filled voice, the documentary reveals the hidden side of her widely publicized marriage, as well as what she refers to as the "worst day of my life." First unveiled by National Geographic, Diana: In Her Own Words is no longer available to stream for free, however, it is available to purchase for a small fee on Amazon Prime Video.
