Kylie Jenner and More Top Forbes' List of Highest Paid Celebrities in 2020
In spite of a global pandemic and the canceling of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, 2020 has proven lucrative for Kylie Jenner as she lands the number one spot on Forbes' annual list of highest paid celebrities. Jenner, the only female in the top 10, earned $590 million this year, which is more than three times what the second place earner, Jenner's brother-in-law Kanye West, made at $170 million. The majority of their earnings for the year came from their beauty and fashion businesses. Jenner sold her majority ownership of her company Kylie Cosmetics to Coty earlier this year, while West raked in a substantial payday from his label Yeezy's deal with Adidas.
Sports stars Robert Federer ($106.3 million), Cristiano Ronaldo ($105 million), Lionel Messi ($104 million), Neymar ($95.5 million), and Lebron James ($88.2 million) all ranked in the Top 10, alongside Tyler Perry ($97 million), media personality Howard Stern ($90 million), and actor Dwayne Johnson ($87.5 million). Musicians Elton John ($81 million), Ariana Grande ($72 million), and the Jonas Brothers ($68.5 million) placed at numbers 14, 17, and 20, respectively. 18-year old singer Billie Eilish also earned a spot at number 43 with $53 million, while Kim Kardashian West followed closely behind at number 48 with an income of $49.5 million.
This achievement for Jenner comes on the heels of the April announcement that, after two consecutive years of being named the world's youngest, self-made billionaire, she was not actually a billionaire. According to Forbes, the figures presented by the beauty mogul and her mother Kris to the publication to authenticate her net worth were not in line with the numbers given to Coty during her sale of Kylie Cosmetics. The magazine put her new estimated net worth at $900 million. However, the Jenners have continued to deny all accusations of falsifying documents.
