It&#39;s been a long year...and it&#39;s only May. So, it&#39;s safe to say 2020 hasn&#39;t been the nicest, especially for those battling a breakup. Relationships in the public-eye leave little to the imagination and sadly, these aren&#39;t the first high profile splits Hollywood has witnessed (and they surely won&#39;t be the last). Between the short-lived, and long-lived, romance and rivalry, we thought it was only necessary to round-up the celebrity breakups that hurt the most.

Cara Delevingne and Ashley Benson

The couple started dating in 2018 and as their nearly two year long relationship has seen its ups and downs, sources confirmed the duo have decided to go their separate ways. Setting an example for exes everywhere, they seem to remain amicable. Delevingne released a statement on her Instagram defending Benson against harsh comments after being seen with rapper G-Eazy, &quot;To everyone hating on @ashleybenson please stop.&quot; Cara demanded privacy as she went on to state, &ldquo;You don&rsquo;t know the truth, only her and I do and that&#39;s exactly how it should be.&rdquo;&nbsp;

Mary-Kate Olsen and Olivier Sarkozy

Divorces are messy, but a divorce during a global pandemic is all the more agonizing. Co-founder of The Row and Olsen twin, Mary-Kate, has split from Olivier Sarkozy, French banker and half-brother to former French president. The 33-year-old fashion royal has filed for divorce for reasons that are still unknown. However, due to New York courts closing because of the recent coronavirus outbreak, the couple&#39;s breakup has been halted. Olsen reportedly petitioned for an emergency separation, but after being denied she has been obligated to stay in the couple&rsquo;s Hamptons home for the duration of quarantine.&nbsp;

The socially indulgent duo announced their celebrity breakup the normal way... by deleting all photos of one another on their Instagram profiles. After months of publicizing their relationship, they have polished off their romance with an undisguised &lsquo;unfollow&rsquo;. The actor and his model ex confirmed their relationship in November of 2019, but have decided to call it quits as of April 2020.&nbsp;

Although the ceremony was held, the legal paperwork for the two&rsquo;s marriage license was not yet filed. However, despite the short-lived marriage, it seems the couple is already tied up in long-term separation disputes.&nbsp;
