Britney Spears Gives a Heartfelt Speech at the GLAAD Awards
Britney Spears stole the spotlight at the 29th annual GLAAD Media awards last night as she climbed up the stage of the Beverly Hilton to the audience’s roaring applause and her own lyrics saluting her, you better work.
The pop icon was honored with the Vanguard Award for her work advocating for the equality and acceptance of the LGBTQ community. Ricky Martin presented the award saying, “She could be one of those stars with a huge LGBTQ following who does nothing and says nothing. Instead, she uses her platform to remind audiences around the globe that intolerance is unacceptable."
In her acceptance speech, Spears called for love and acceptance, noting how motherhood and her fervent fan base taught her the meaning of unconditional love.
