The wait is over—almost. A new report reveals that after five years, Rihanna will return to music soon with her ninth studio album. The untitled project, referred to as R9 by her and her fans, has been in the works for some time now. However, as the "Love on the Brain" singer has turned her attention to her other beauty and fashion businesses (Fenty Beauty, Fenty Skin, Savage X Fenty, etc.), her fans were left begging for new tracks.

Luckily, a source told The Sun, "Rihanna has been secretly working on new music for a long time and her ninth album has finally come together. She has kept fans waiting for a long time — and the pandemic slowed things up even more."

In addition, the singer has tapped director Raja Virdi for a music video set to film in California later this summer. Said the source, "The project is still tightly under wraps but Rihanna will be filming a new music video in Los Angeles in July. Raja has been brought on board by Rihanna and her team, and he will be flying out to oversee everything."

Early last year, Bad Girl RiRi shared an Instagram post with Pharrell and Chad Hugo of The Neptunes with the caption, "back in da STU." Around the same time, she also told British Vogue that she was "very aggressively working on new music." In March, she also released her single with Partynextdoor, "Believe It."

While the singer has not made an official statement on the subject, fans are eager to learn more about what she has planned for her upcoming project.
